What is a Connect Group?

We were all designed with a desperate need for community in our hearts. When we look at the book of Genesis in the Bible, we see how God spoke about Adam’s need for a helper, someone to walk alongside him and help him. If we all took a minute to evaluate our lives, we would see that we can’t do it all on our own and that we need help. Connect Groups are not a replacement for a relationship with God, but they are there to help each of us grow to be more like Jesus. Connect Groups consist of 8-12 people who meet weekly to do life together. These groups are designed to cultivate Christ-centered friendships that encourage, challenge, and focus our lives towards a growing relationship with Jesus.

Where should I begin? GROUP ONE!

Whether you’re new at our church or you’ve been around for a while, Group One is your first step into Connect Groups here at Connection Church. At Group One, you’ll learn a biblical perspective of why community is a core part of the Christian life as well as hear some of the unique characteristics of a healthy Connect Group. We know that picking a group to join can be somewhat intimidating so once you’ve completed Group One, we will help plug you in to a group that fits your needs.

Important Info:
  • A 1-day class led by one of our pastors that discusses biblical community and how we specifically practice that here at Connection Church
  • Typically takes place the last Sunday of every month during our 11 AM Service
  • Childcare is provided

What is the purpose of a Connect Group?

We designed Connect Groups to mimic what the Bible teaches about community. (Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25; Colossians 3:12-17) Connect Groups are not all of the Christian life, and they can not carry the full weight of discipleship (growing to be more like Jesus), but they do create community around the right sort of “stuff” (serving together, learning the Bible, caring for one another, spreading gospel community, and sharing generously).

We believe that through Connect Groups, Jesus should become more evident in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Sunday morning services are great, and lives change there too, but it is in gospel community where we believe the most life change can happen. There is something amazing that happens when you hang around a group of people who may once have been strangers, but now have become family, and who challenge you to constantly look more like Jesus.

Why should I join a Connect Group?

We were created to live in community. Community protects us from being isolated and vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. We’ve all seen the Discovery channel special where the antelope has strayed too far. Trust us, not only are Connect Groups a place where you’re protected but also loved. We would love to have you join one of our Connect Groups today.
